Police in Michigan have arrested a man after they say he attacked a 7-year-old girl at a park. Gary Lansky, 73, is charged with assault with intent to murder and felonious assault, according to a Facebook post by the Detroit Police Department. Attorney information for Lansky was not available. Around 3:45 p.m. Oct. 8, Detroit police were called to a home for reports of a stabbing.
When they arrived, they found the girl being treated by medics with a laceration to her throat, police said. Police said Lansky went up to the girl at a park and cut her throat with a knife. “I was playing on a spinning thing that was green … and I was playing … and then I saw like a man, and I said, like, hi to him.
And he … was coming towards me, and he was … walking to me like that,” the girl told WXYZ. She said she kicked the man in his legs, according to the news outlet. “He pulled my face up and then in the other hand was a knife.
He just came out of nowhere and slid the knife on me,” she told WJBK. The girl ran home and showed her mom what happened, the outlet reported. Her grandma began screaming and scared Lansky off. Police arrested Lansky later that day. Officials believe he was experiencing a mental crisis at the time of the attack, according to WXYZ.
